The United Methodist Free Store provides gently used clothing and household items to individuals and families in a hospitable atmosphere that affirms the self-worth of each individual. More than 50,000 families have become members of the Free Store since we opened our doors in January 1999.

To maximize the safety of our shoppers, volunteers and staff, Free Store shopping is by appointment only.

You can schedule an appointment to shop by calling 614-443-1713 between 9am-2pm Monday-Friday.

You can also schedule your appointment in person from 10am-2pm Mondays and Wednesdays.

Clothing and small household items are donated for those in need to shop for free. All are welcome here at Westside Free Store. There are no income or residency requirements. The Free Store’s shoppers include men, women, and children who call Central Ohio home.

The Emergency Assistance Department provides supportive services that deliver crisis intervention strategies to stabilize households and strengthen self-sufficiency. All Emergency Assistance Programs/Services serve Franklin County households that are at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and most households must have a qualifying emergency to receive assistance.

COMPASS (Congregational Outreach Ministries Program of Assistance & Social Service) is a collaboration involving numerous area churches and other community groups. COMPASS provides services to prevent homelessness and stall evictions, allowing families to remain in their homes. We also refer individuals and families to other agencies within the community. COMPASS does not provide assistance for utility bills in default with the gas or electric company or for tenants scheduled to be evicted within the next 2 business days. Please note there is no guarantee of assistance. COMPASS is a site for Neighbor to Neighbor applications for AEP customers only.

J.O.I.N. provides material needs for low income families in Franklin County and functions under Catholic Charities of the Catholic Diocese of Columbus.

Though J.O.I.N. is limited on some assistance at this time, we can assist with prescriptions and birth certificates and we usually have non-perishable food, personal hygiene and household products available to neighbors in need, as well as other kinds of assistance.
